L’Occitane

My first real corporate commission! This one was for L’Occitane for their launch of their new Christmas 2011 range. Cakes are both dark chocolate mud. Artwork on “packages” is all hand-painted and writing all hand piped – I’m getting better at it! Practise definitely helps. One of the hardest and most time-consuming cakes I’ve made due to the intricacy of the artwork.

Orange-almond gluten free cake. Black circle done with pre-purchased coloured flower modelling paste. Silver done by covering cake with grey fondant and then painting with silver lustre-dust combined with cake decorating alcohol. Important to do grey fondant first as white fondant painted silver looks washed out, unless you do several layers of paint. Felt like I should have been sent some kind of incentive from BMW on this one.
